My name is Einar Flaatin and I live in Bo in Telemark County in Norway. I have a great interest in Country Music, especially the traditional style. My favorites are the artists from the 50's and the 60's. Among my favorite artists you will find Kitty Wells, Hank Williams, Marty Robbins, Hank Snow, George Jones, Johnny Cash, Flatt &Scruggs, Jean Shepard, Carl Smith and many more.

I also like some of today's artists, but too much of what they call country today is more like pop/rock. Just listen to artists like Faith Hill, Shania Twain,Tim McGraw, Garth Brooks, it's hard to find country in their music. Up through the years I have got a large collection of Country Music. But it hasn't been easy. You see, Norway back in the 60's and 70's wasn't the right place to live if you like Country Music, but it has been better the last 20 years. Today Country is  popular in Norway.

My interest in Country Music started in the early 60's, and it grew very quickly when I came to USA and Canada several times in the mid 60's as a sailor. I heard all the Country Radio stations and I visited the record stores. But I still can't understad why I didn't bought more records then. I'm often thinking about that. One of the reasons was of course that I hadn't too much money to spend. But already in the late fifties I heard Country Music my first time. A boy in my neighbourhood was a sailor, he was a few years older than me and had been away for a year or so and brought home some country records, There is one I have never forgotten, a 45 with Wynn Stewart & Jan Howard "Yankee Go Home" and "How The Other Half Lives". I had the pleasure to meet Jan Howard backstage at The Grand Ole Opry whe I visited Nashville in 2000, and I told her about my memories of that record.

From time to time up through the years I have been thinking : All this great music should be shared with others and in 1995 things happened, I started the Radio program "Highwayexpressen".
